I have had the unfortunate luck of finding a hole in the floor carpet of my A3 behind the front passenger seat. It appears a nice lady's high heel has gone through it when getting in or out.

I have had a look at the damage by lifting the carpet and found that its gone completely through the foam underneath too. Now I managed to glue the carpet back so its not too noticeable but as soon any pressure is placed in that area the foam backing starts to separate again.

Any suggestions how I can repair/support the backing? IThe glue and duck tape option at the moment is not working.

I am going to order some rear mats from Audi tomorrow to match the front ones, however i still think I may have problems as the area of floor is stepped on when gettin gin and out of the back.

I'd say get Audi to fix it under Warranty. If it was there when you bought it, then I'm sure they'd do it for you.

I doubt they will replace the carpet on a 3yr old car because someone put their heel through it. They are most likely to glue it anyway which is what I have done to the top. It the underneath I'm concerned about.

find some nice foam to lay under it. take the carpet up and lay it alot wider than the hole. then if push comes to sove. cut some carpet from the boot or somewhere and lay that underneath or get it properly seamed. the tape they use to stick house carpet down is good. just need to iron it to set it.

Cheers Mr_D thats a good idea. I'll investigate that carpet tape too. That alone may be sufficient to stop the foam separating but, if not I can get my hands on some foam.

Nice one.
