Boot Rattle

I have the worlds most annoying rattle from the boot and cant pin it down!

Plastic trim has come off, spare wheel and jack have come out and its still there! Only thing I can think of is the actually tailgate itself is bouncing up and down with some play in the lock?

Any ideas?

It could be the lock, your right. It's also possibe that it is the catch for the rear seat, as these are prone to knocking/rattling. Try folding the seats down and see if the noise is still there.

Flipped the seats down last night and it was still there, got my other half to sit in the boot. She said it is coming from under the boot floor over the exhaust?

Could it be the exhaust vibrating against the under side of the car?!

isnt there a heat shield somewhere around there?? actually I think thats at the front argg there is something common that rattles at the back *thinks*

hmmm might pop it into a garage around the corner to get it up on there ramps
