SEAT geared up for the busiest motorsport weekend of the season
One of the busiest motorsport weekends of the season is almost upon us, with SEAT Sport UK’s BTCC team and the Blaupunkt SEAT Cupra Championship racing at Snetterton and SEAT Sport launching its 280 PS diesel-engined Leon in the FIA World Touring Car Championship in Sweden.
Jason Plato leads the BTCC and has a good record at Snetterton, having won four races there in three years, while SEAT Sport UK scored a double 1-2 finish last year. And with 62% of the Norfolk circuit lapped at full throttle, he and team-mate Darren Turner will have their sights set on victory again.
Jonathan Adam might lead the New Leon Cupra Class, but local support will be focused on 17-year old Liam McMillan as the youngest driver in the Blaupunkt SEAT Cupra Championship aims for his best result of the season. A huge battle in the Leon Cupra R Class is set to continue between Harry Vaulkhard, Freddy Nordstrom and the pace-setting Churchill brothers, Adrian and Ian.
Jordi Gené and Yvan Muller will debut a diesel race engine this weekend at the Scandinavian Raceway in Anderstorp. It’s hoped that it will strengthen the team’s challenge for the Manufacturers’ title – while helping Yvan, the best-placed SEAT Sport driver in the WTCC, win the Drivers’ title.
